The new Rifai Cabinet of Ministers included its fair share of novelty with first-time
appointees and new ministries. HE Imad Fakhoury is one such first-time minister,
in a twin appointment to the Ministry of Public Sector Reform and the newly
established State Ministry for Megaprojects.
The decision to add Dabouq, a posh suburb of Amman, to the Kingdom’s alreadyexisting five development zones, is somewhat perplexing given the usual economicmotivation behind such projects.
